How to Become a Realtor in Florida with Iv League Realty
Step 1: Meet Eligibility Requirements
Before starting your journey to becoming a realtor in Florida, ensure you meet these basic eligibility criteria:
Be at least 18 years old.
Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Possess a valid Social Security number.
Complete a state-approved pre-licensing course.
Step 2: Complete Pre-Licensing Education
To move forward, enroll in a Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC)-approved pre-licensing course. The course consists of 63 hours of instruction on topics such as real estate principles, practices, and laws—equipping you with the essential knowledge to succeed in the real estate field.
Step 3: Pass the Course Exam
After completing the pre-licensing course, you must pass the course exam with a minimum score of 70%. This exam will test your understanding of the material covered throughout the course.
Step 4: Submit Your Application
Next, complete and submit the Florida Real Estate License Application online through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). You’ll need to provide personal information, your course completion details, and payment for the application fee.
Step 5: Get Fingerprinted
Once your application is submitted, schedule an appointment for fingerprinting. This background check is required by the DBPR to ensure your eligibility for licensing.
Step 6: Pass the State Exam
Upon approval of your application and completion of your fingerprinting, you'll receive an Authorization Notice to schedule the Florida state licensing exam. The exam includes both a national and a state-specific portion. A passing score of 75% or higher on each portion is required to proceed.
